Glossary
These definitions describe how each term is used in Farbeam. Some have wider meanings elsewhere.
| Term | Meaning in Farbeam |
|---|---|
| Address | A public wallet or contract identifier. 0x and 40 hex characters on EVM chains. Base58 on Solana. |
| Admin power | A contract function that lets a privileged account change tokens or rules, such as mint or pause. Token reports show these as checks. |
| Account | A record tied to one Solana wallet address. It holds keys and rules. See authentication. |
| API key | A secret in the form fbk_ plus 48 hex characters that raises your rate limit and gives access to rules. See authentication. |
| Attempt | One try to send a webhook. Each delivery has up to 4. See retries. |
| Base token | The first token of a trading pair in market data. Its price is quoted against the quote token. |
| Beamline | The Farbeam expression language for rules. See Beamline. |
| Block | A batch of transactions on an EVM chain. Solana calls its unit a slot. |
| Block time | The average seconds between blocks. Measured values appear on chain pages. |
| Blacklist function | A contract function that blocks chosen addresses from moving a token. |
| Burn | Sending tokens to a null address or destroying them. Farbeam shows a move to the null address. |
| Cache TTL | How long a stored upstream answer stays valid. See freshness. |
| CEX | A centralized exchange. The label type in Farbeam is exchange. |
| Chain status | The state of one poller: starting, ok, degraded or down. See chain status. |
| Check | One item in a token report with a status of pass, warn, fail, info or unknown. |
| Circulating supply | The stablecoin amount a source counts as in circulation. Sources differ on the method. |
| Cursor | The value in meta.next_cursor, passed as before to get the next page. See pagination. |
| Cooldown | The time after a rule fires in which it ignores matches. See alerts. |
| Curated token | A token in the list that Farbeam indexes per chain. See curated tokens. |
| Delivery | One event queued for one rule. See webhooks. |
| DEX | A decentralized exchange, measured here by volume through DefiLlama. |
| Degraded | A chain state: at least 90 seconds of lag, or 2 failures in a row. |
| EVM | Ethereum Virtual Machine. In Farbeam: Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon. |
| Event | One SSE message, or one stored row sent on the live stream. |
| FDV | Fully diluted value. Price multiplied by total supply, as reported by the source. |
| Finalized | A Solana commitment level. Farbeam reads finalized blocks, so rows arrive later than the newest slot. |
| Freeze authority | A Solana account that can freeze a holder's token account. |
| Gas | The fee unit on EVM chains. See Gas. |
| Head | The newest block number the poller has read. |
| Head age | Seconds since the head last moved, in head_age_seconds. |
| HMAC | A keyed hash. Farbeam signs webhooks with HMAC-SHA256. See signatures. |
| Honeypot | A token that buyers cannot sell. Reported by GoPlus, and it can be wrong. |
| Indexed chain | A chain where large curated-token transfers are stored. |
| Label | A hand-curated name and type for a public address. See labels. |
| Lag | The gap between the chain head and the last block read. |
| Liquidity | The USD value in trading pools, as reported by the market source. |
| Log | An event emitted by a contract. Farbeam reads Transfer logs on EVM chains. |
| Market cap | Price multiplied by circulating supply, as reported by the source. |
| Mint | Creation of new tokens, shown as a transfer from the null address. |
| Mint authority | A Solana account that can create more of a token. |
| Native token | The coin of a chain, used for fees, such as ETH or SOL. |
| Network | In rate limits, your IP address. Hashed in memory only. |
| Null address | 0x000...000, labeled Null address. Mints come from it and many burns go to it. |
| Peg | The target price of a stablecoin, such as $1. |
| Poller | The loop that reads one chain on a fixed interval. |
| Pool | A smart contract holding two tokens for trading. |
| Proxy contract | A contract whose logic can be replaced by its admin. Token reports show this as a check. |
| Prune | Deleting rows older than the retention period. |
| Rate limit unit | The cost measure for requests. See rate limits. |
| Row | One stored transfer in /transfers. |
| RPC | Remote Procedure Call. The interface for reading a chain from a node. |
| Rule | A saved Beamline expression and webhook URL. See alerts. |
| Sampled | sampled: true on a row. It came from partial reading of Solana, so missing rows are normal. See sampling. |
| Scope | The field that states what a response covers. Read it on wallet data. |
| Secret | A rule's signing value, fbs_ plus 48 hex characters. Shown once. |
| Session | A 7 day sign-in state held in the fb_session cookie. |
| Signature | On Solana, the identifier of a transaction. On a webhook, the x-farbeam-signature header. In sign-in, the wallet's proof over the challenge message. |
| Slot | A Solana time unit. Some slots hold no block. |
