Authorities in major Solana mints
Snapshot window: 2026-11-04T19:46:04Z to 19:47:42Z. A Solana SPL mint has two optional authorities. The mint authority can create new supply, and the freeze authority can freeze any token account of that mint. Both are readable from the mint account, so no third party needs to interpret them. This note reads 12 well-known mints.
The mint list was chosen by hand from well-known names. It is not a ranking, and it is not a recommendation of any token.

Summary of the 12 mints: 7 have no mint authority and no freeze authority. Wrapped SOL (wSOL) is included in those 7 and has special behaviour, described below. 3 have a mint authority only. 2 have both.
#How to read each group
#Issuer stablecoins
USDC and USDT keep both authorities. The report marks each as warn. A centrally issued stablecoin needs to mint and can be required to freeze accounts, so the authority is a feature of the design. For a stablecoin the question is who holds the authority. The report shows the address and does not identify the holder. On USDT both authorities are held by the same address.
#Staking tokens
mSOL and JitoSOL keep a mint authority because a liquid staking token is minted when a user stakes. So Still set is expected for this type. The check marks it as warn anyway, because the rule does not know the token type.
#Revoked
Most governance and community tokens in this list have both authorities revoked. "Revoked" means no new supply can be minted through the SPL mint instruction, and no account can be frozen. It says nothing about other risks, such as large holdings that can move. JUP has 65.2% of supply in its 10 largest token accounts, and RAY has 77.6%. Those are token accounts, which can include vesting vaults and pool vaults.
#wSOL
Wrapped SOL is a special mint managed by the token program. getTokenSupply returned 0, and both authorities read as revoked. Those values do not describe wrapped SOL in the way they describe other mints, so do not compare them directly.
#RugCheck score
The score comes from the RugCheck summary field score_normalised, and a higher score means more risk flags at that source. Farbeam marks 50 or more as warn. ORCA, mSOL and JitoSOL scored 71 to 72. All three have a mint authority set, which may be one of the flags, but this report shows only the number and not the reasons. A named score is one reading from one source. Farbeam does not combine it with anything.
#Method
- For each mint, call
/tokens/solana/{mint}once. - Read
checks[]formint_authority,freeze_authority,top10andrugcheck. - Read
token.total_supply. Supply values are rounded to whole tokens here.
Mint data comes from getAccountInfo with jsonParsed, and it is cached for 5 minutes.
#Limits
top10was unknown for USDC, USDT and wSOL becausegetTokenLargestAccountsfailed on those mints in this run.- Top 10 counts token accounts. One owner can hold several, and a pool vault counts as one account.
- This check covers classic SPL fields. Token-2022 extensions need other checks, and only some of them are in the report:
closableandbalance_mutable. - The mint list is small and chosen by hand. It tells you nothing about a typical Solana token.
- This is one snapshot. Authorities can change.
This note describes contract settings. It is not a view on any token and is not financial advice. Try any mint in the token report tool.
