Farbeam

Gas across seven chains

2026-11-04 UTC · Farbeam research

Snapshot time: 2026-11-04T19:20:05Z. One call to GET /gas. This note converts a gas price into a USD cost, because gwei figures cannot be compared across chains that have different native assets.

#The call

curl -s "https://farbeamlabs.com/api/v1/gas"
const { data } = await (await fetch("https://farbeamlabs.com/api/v1/gas")).json();
for (const c of data) {
  if (c.gas_price_gwei == null) continue;
  const usd = (gas) => gas * c.gas_price_gwei * 1e-9 * c.native_price_usd;
  console.log(c.chain, usd(21000).toFixed(6), usd(65000).toFixed(6), usd(150000).toFixed(6));
}
import requests

for c in requests.get("https://farbeamlabs.com/api/v1/gas", timeout=30).json()["data"]:
    if c["gas_price_gwei"] is None:
        continue
    usd = lambda gas: gas * c["gas_price_gwei"] * 1e-9 * c["native_price_usd"]
    print(c["chain"], f"{usd(21000):.6f}", f"{usd(65000):.6f}", f"{usd(150000):.6f}")

Solana has no gwei. At the same moment, the priority_fee_microlamports value was 0, tps was 2,232, and SOL was $95.35.

Polygon had the highest gwei figure by a wide margin, at 294. POL cost $0.096456, so that gwei figure means little by itself.

#Cost in USD

The formula for EVM chains:

Text
cost_usd = gas_units * gas_price_gwei * 1e-9 * native_price_usd

Gas units are round examples. 21,000 is the fixed cost of a plain native transfer. 65,000 and 150,000 are illustrative figures for an ERC-20 transfer and a simple swap. Real contracts use different amounts.

ChainNative transfer (21,000 gas)Token transfer (65,000 gas)Swap (150,000 gas)
OP Mainnet$0.000051$0.000158$0.000364

Arbitrum One$0.001020$0.003158$0.007287

Worked example for Polygon: 21,000 x 294.070208314 x 1e-9 x 0.096456 = $0.000596.

#Solana

A Solana fee has a base part, charged per signature, and an optional priority part, charged per compute unit. The base fee is 5,000 lamports per signature, or 0.000005 SOL. This value is a protocol constant and does not come from the API.

Text
5,000 lamports * 1e-9 * $95.35 = $0.000477 per signature

The API value for the priority fee is the 75th percentile of getRecentPrioritizationFees. It read 0 at the snapshot, and a busy account may need more. So $0.000477 is a lower bound for a one-signature transaction.

#The L2 data fee

To see a real total, use transaction lookup on a real transaction. It reports fee from the receipt effectiveGasPrice and gasUsed. That value can also leave out the data fee on these chains. The explorer link in the response shows the full amount.

#Reading the fields

FieldNote
base_fee_gweiFrom the last block read. BNB Chain read 0 at this snapshot, while eth_gasPrice returned 0.05
gas_price_gweiResult of eth_gasPrice from one RPC node. It is a suggestion from that node, not a market average
gas_used_ratiogasUsed / gasLimit of the last block read

The Arbitrum gas_used_ratio read 0.00000000087. Arbitrum blocks report a very large gasLimit, so this ratio does not measure how full a block is. Ignore it on that chain.

#Method

  1. Call /gas once.
  2. Apply the formula to each EVM row with three gas amounts.
  3. Compute the Solana base fee from the protocol constant and the SOL price in the same response.

#Limits

See the current values in the gas and fees tool, or read GET /gas.
